Network of Engaged Canadian Academics
Réseau des professeur.e.s canadien.ne.s engagé.e.s

We are a non-partisan group of Jewish and non-Jewish academics who share concerns about rising antisemitism on campus. We advocate for strengthening academic freedom, viewpoint diversity, and inclusion on Canadian campuses.  We work to protect and teach about Jewish identity as well as combat antisemitism.

NECA leadership and its members are committed to making sure that Jewish students and their allies can flourish, be challenged by new and complex ideas, grow as people, and be able to express their identities fully, including their Jewish identity and connection with Israel, without fear of reprisal.

NECA represents over 225 Jewish and non-Jewish academics from 34 institutions across Canada.  We are here to support faculty in their efforts at their own universities.  We work with university and college leadership and consult with local, national, and international stakeholder organizations.  We conduct research, share evidence, and expertise, developing best practices for combating antisemitism in Canada’s universities and colleges.

In achieving NECA’s mission we will make campuses safer, fairer, and better for all.
